Epic Historical Novel Recommendations

by Sienkiewicz and I am simply blown away. Even though I still have one book to go, I am already beginning to worry if Ill ever find something that tops or even matches his trilogy. As Im still new to this genre, I would greatly appreciate a few recommendations of what are generally considered the greatest historical epics set from medieval up to 18th century Europe (Crusades excluded).

Mod of the week on hold -- Ive played nearly every RTW mod out there.

I never thought I was THAT kind of person.

Thanks for the reccomendations, im definitely gonna check War and Piece and Shogun. I was planning to read Tolstoy anyway right after i finish with Sienkiewicz (which i did now) and what seem to be a great historical fiction read - Eclipse of the Crescent Moon (The Stars of Eger) by Gza Grdonyi, which im renting tomorrow. Sharpe series arent translated to my language unfotunately and im not interested in Romans at the moment but thanks for the recommendations anyway.

Im familiar with Iggulden, ive read Wolf of the Plains inday (first time that happened to me) but the third book is gonna be released on Fall so im gonna wait till then to finish the series.
